Hotel Trends: uniforms and the fashion sense!

In the first part of 2016, new trends are taking root in the hotel sector. Between these, one in particular relates to the choice of staff’ uniforms. We have already spoken about how important it is for a worker to feel comfortable with his uniform. Personnel Management experts understood another important thing, namely that a fashionable and coherent with hotel’s style uniform can contribute to the success of your structure. In fact, it is essential that furniture, furnishings, decorations and uniforms represent a style adapted to each category of clients, involving different generations, in order to create a nice and an attractive atmosphere in the structure.

In the last few years, the older employees’ generation is making way for Millennials.

Who are the Millennials?

As is clear from definition, it is about the generation of the new millennium, also called Generation X, Generation Next or Net Generation. By this term, it refers in particular to Western people born between 1980 and 2000. It is very important to know what the characteristics of this generation are, in order to understand also the changes in the world of work and in society in general. Compared to the older generations, the Millennials are more familiar with communication, media and digital technologies.

From an emotional and character point of view, the experts in sociology figured out how Millennials are ambitious, tolerant, enterprising, competitive and stubborn, with a strong tendency to optimism and self-love. These particular aspects of the Net Generation also affect, undoubtedly, the world of work.

Compared to their ancestors, the Millennials tend to choose jobs they want while in the past the main objective was survival. This means that a young worker wants to commit himself in a dynamic and funny environment, in which he can certainly to be at him best. Personal care and interest in image have grown exponentially and, inevitably, this fact has brought companies to make new choices also in relation to uniforms, finding a clever way to join fashion and business strategy.  

Today, the structures, which shall pay particular attention to the issue of uniforms, realized that, in order to obtain originality without missing elegance and formality, they can aim for colors. In this way, employees in the tourism industry may choose the same kind of uniform with multiple colors’ connection, in order to be able to express their own unique personal style.

Some experts support that the fashion sense is possible also for five-star hotels or superiors, by creating an accessible luxury more in line with new social trends. Actually, this insight is great, because with clothes, in a certain sense, we can speak.

The importance of uniforms’ style is also in the concept of union between them and another new trend of recent years, namely theme structures. Furthermore, we live in the age of Marketing 3.0, in which we must be prepared to changes and transformations, to look at clients like clients for the life and to rediscover and support social values.  

In terms of Personnel Management, uniforms best suited improve workers’ mood, giving rise to a whole range of benefits both for employees and for clients. In conclusion: you must take care of your employees, if you want they take care of your guests!
