The motivation of outsourcing

Why do companies choose to rely on outsourcing? Gruppo La Meridiana, a leader in the outsourcing industry, has carried out an interesting study about its customers to understand what are the underlying motives that push a company to give a business unit in external management. The reasons, in fact, are numerous and mainly framed in a perspective of strategy and optimization, in order to maintain competitiveness in the market that is constantly evolving.

The main reason, common to most of the companies involved in this process, is the difficult management with appropriate professionalism a business unit, which can become the weak ring in production, creating problems in the whole chain. It is usually a non-core segment, as may be the management of human resources, the security unit or the IT services.

This gives the opportunity to raise the company from the secondary resource management, giving more space to other, more inherent with the core business activities. It is necessary to pay the necessary attention, because if you are having problems of management, outsourcing may not be a buffer: one must first determine the cause of the difficulties and give precise to the provider, in such a way that it can organize itself to best to optimize operational units.

One problem could be the lack of adequate professionists within the company. This is a problem that occurs primarily in young and expanding companies, which have to cope with new needs without having yet developed the proper know-how. At this obstacle, the outsourcing can give the best possible response, because it provides the skills best suited to the service of the company, without placing them in the staff but managing them from the outside.

However, one of the points on which all business customers surveyed by Gruppo La Meridiana agree on is costs optimization. Outsourcing, on the other hand, currently represents the highest organizational level of a company, because it allows to drastically reduce the fixed costs in favor of those variables that affect less in the budget, at the level of the depreciation. Moreover, expanding the scale economy speech, the specialization of the provider can significantly reduce operational costs, resulting in a better allocation of resources, without reducing the availability but rather destinandole to more sspecifiche activities for the company.

Another important aspect, that is pushing companies to seek the support of external suppliers, is the reduction of risks linked to the activity of company. Specifically, in fact, investments always involve a considerable risk for companies, which may not re-enter the investment capital for various reasons, sometimes with drastic consequences on the financial statements and, accordingly, on the operation. Thanks to outsourcing, however, these risks are spread over several companies, because the service provider evaluates its considerations not on the basis of a single company but in a broader perspective, analyzing the totality of the client companies. In this way you get a compensation, which cancels in fact any great risk.

Gruppo La Meridiana has developed an operational strategy of great value to support the companies that decide to trust its management. Through a complex structure and well organized, in fact, it is able to present itself as an ideal partner in the realization of that which, technically, is called “modular company” that is the ideal structure for the current market.
