Corporate Security is a primary issue which cannot be overlooked by and company, regardless of sector, size or number of employees.

In Italy this is governed by the Consolidated Law on health and safety at work , represented by Legislative Decree 81/2008, which applies to all sectors of activity, regardless of the type of risk and the fact that they fit in the public or private .

The safety and health in the workplace is the result of more actions carried out by a variety of subjects, including workers, within the corporate organization: we see in detail what are the figures involved.

The Employer and the Head of the Prevention and Protection

The employer and the Head of the prevention and protection are the two pivotal figures of the System of Prevention and Protection (SPP).

The employer must ensure that they organized system of prevention and protection is in place and to instruct employees internal or external services as employees for increased safety awareness. This is mandatory for health and safety compliance in Italy.

In particular, it is up to the employer to appoint a competent physician, in cases where the current legislation provides for the mandatory surveillance for workers at risk.

The RLS and the person in charge of the Prevention and Protection

In farms or production units with less than 15 workers, the Employee representative (in Italian this is called the ‘RLS’) for security is directly elected by the workers.

In the case of companies with a larger number of employees the RLS is elected by the workers through the union representatives in the company.

The officer in the service of prevention and protection (ASPP) contains two roles that can be performed by the same person or two different people: the employee and the Emergency all’antincendio and the clerk to the ER.

The latter in particular appears to be a strategic subject especially for activities in contact with the public: the guy at the emergency department should be able to handle the first maneuvers help in an emergency, whether it’s workers, both whether they are users or customers of the company who are in the workplace activity.
