Digital recruiting: the future (and present) of HR selection
It is clear: the world of work is changing. More and more often companies need to find the right people for their business in a short time and with a small budget, the traditional methods for finding staff seem sometimes too inefficient, and the skills required are often difficult to find.
Digital recruitment is the recruitment’s new frontier, as it takes place mostly on the web, where more and more often there’s a match between job demand and job offer. In other words, this is the present and future scenario in which the selection of personnel takes place.
Digital recruiting: new channels, new opportunities
We talk about digital or social recruiting when the channels used to search and find jobs are websites, blogs and especially social media.
In this regard there’s a very interesting survey entitled “The work at the time of #SocialRecruiting“ curated by Adecco (of which you can also find a nice infographic). This study, carried out on a sample of candidates and recruiters from all over the world, shows that the digital selection is widespread and the two most commonly used social networks are LinkedIn and Facebook.
The advantages for candidates and recruiters
The main activities of job seekers on the web are searching for job ads, spreading CVs and sending applications.
But in addition to this active job search, social channels are also very useful for candidates to draw information from the business realities in which they are interested, in order to understand the company image and if it can match with their own needs and interests.
Regarding digital recruiters, most of them are part of large companies (more than 250 employees).
Their main activities are the search for passive candidates (ie those with the right skills for the role, but that does not answer the announcement), the receipt of applications and the publication of jobs.
The most popular online profiles searched appear to be those in the areas of sales, administration, finance and control and marketing.
